NHS Decision Support Tools

Decision support tools, also called patient decision aids, support shared decision making by making treatment, care and support options explicit. They provide evidence-based information about the associated benefits/harms and help patients to consider what matters most to them in relation to the possible outcomes, including doing nothing. The NHS have put together a variety of decision support tools that can be used to support conversations with clinicians before, during and after treatment.

CNTW Mental Health Self Help Guides

The local mental health service have written a series of self help guides covering a wide range of topics such as depression, anxiety and stress which offer users the opportunity to find out more about the causes of mental health issues and provide tools to work through feelings and emotions.

Money Help – Budget Planner

The free online tool helps you keep track of your money and suggests ways to improve your finances. The Budget planner adds up all your income and outgoings, and then shows you what’s left over. It breaks down where you’re spending your money, giving you an idea of where you might be able to make savings and cut costs.

Support for People with Memory Difficulties or Dementia

Healthwatch Sunderland collaborated with local carers and other local partners to create this booklet, ‘Support available for people experiencing memory difficulties or dementia in Sunderland’.  This booklet offers key support information for people with memory difficulties and those living with dementia and their carers.
