Lift Off

Lift Off!

Helping you to kick start your career

Lift Off! is a tailored programme that helps people is Sunderland to get ready to go back to work, start training, or do volunteering.

Lift Off! is run by Sunderland GP Alliance and Recovery Connections. It’s funded by the North East Mayoral Combined Authority. These groups bring together the strengths of health and community organisations to give people the help they need with both health and work.

Lift Off! understands that some people want to work again but might find it hard. This could be because of health problems, looking after someone, feeling unsure, or not knowing where to start.

Lift Off! gives each person their own plan and support. We help people:

  • Find out what’s stopping them from working or training.
  • Feel more confident and ready through coaching.
  • Get advice about health, wellbeing, and finding a job.
  • Try new things like learning skills, volunteering, or work experience.
  • Make a Health and Work Plan that suits their life and goals.

Each person gets help from two coaches – a Health and Wellbeing Coach from Sunderland GP Alliance and a Work Coach from Recovery Connections. They work together to give the support you need.

This help can include:

  • Tips for managing health problems like pain, stress, or high blood pressure.
  • Support for mental health, including online tools.
  • Help with money and benefits.
  • Ways to find training, education, or jobs with trusted local groups.

Lift Off! is for adults who:

  • Do not have a job right now (students cannot apply).
  • Is registered with a Sunderland GP Practice
  • Are 18 to 64 years old.
  • Can legally work in the UK.

Lift Off! is for those who want to get back to work, start training, or try volunteering but may need extra help because of health problems, caring for someone, or not knowing where to start.

We know that feeling well and maintaining a job go hand in hand. Lift Off! helps people feel better, build confidence, and find purpose.

By giving the right support, we help people take steps forward, break down barriers, and make a real difference long term in their lives.

Together, we’re creating new opportunities for people to thrive, and helping our communities to truly Lift Off!
